A sweet changing table picture
The little man loves to babble these days, but especially on the changing table. It actually mimics a conversation with one of us making a noise, then J responding with his input. Some of D and I's best talks are now with the monkey over dirty diapers instead of a nice glass of Pinot (oh how life has changed!). He's pretty good with the long and short "o" sounds, we get a few loud "ahhhoooo" (short "a", long "o"), and even some "l" and "g" sounds. He really gets going if we start laughing. J really likes the "Uh Oh" too and he can almost do it. We've started playing peek-a-boo with him and the smiles we get are awesome! He has this look of confusion when our hands are over our face, then flashes a HUGE smile when we take them away. Being a parent has always been great but it's so much more fun now that we know he recognizes us. If we could just get rid of the smelly spit-up (Derek's been through three t-shirts in the past 12 hours) we'd be all good :)
Boys...
Derek is very blessed to have many close friends so although the monkey only has three real uncles (Hi Drew, Jason and Zak!), he will have many honorary "uncles". Here's a great picture with uncles Drew, Mark, and Michael.

Hands, beach and birthday wishes
The monkey found his hands yesterday - it's pretty fun to see the wonder in his eyes as he stares so intently at them. We took the baby to the beach for the first time while we were down south this past weekend. It was cloudy and cold but the little man's face just lit up when we stepped out of the car - he was all smiles the whole time. It's D's dad's birthday today - he would have been 59. Happy Birthday to PawPaw - we love you and miss you dearly.

TGIF
So happy it's Friday! Yes, I'm home everyday but on the weekends so is D so that makes it something to look forward to. The smiles didn't really last too long last night. He never got cranky but just couldn't get comfortable and his little leg hurt him pretty bad. Every time I've changed him though he's all smiles. The past two months have been absolutely wonderful, but now it's even better because I know he recognizes me and those smiles....he's a heartbreaker. Here's a picture from NYE - the monkey and his cousins were partying it up.
